Alternative Pedagogy in k-12 education

about us

The Alternative Pedagogy in K-12 Education project focuses on the feasibility of implementing project-based learning and alternative assessment in K-12 education. We believe there is a critical gap between the rapidly-evolving science of learning and current, stagnant classroom practices, and we are interested in identifying and addressing the challenges that arise when integrating student-centered learning in pre-existing models of education. Specifically, we plan to start with a comprehensive literature review, follow up with a citywide stakeholder survey about the state of New Haven public education, and finish with a field experiment conducted in local schools.
