Equal Justice Center: Hate Crime Prevention
2023-2024 Project
The Hate Crime Prevention Project in the Equal Justice Center examined the alarming rate of hate crimes and incidents in the country since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our center drafted action-oriented policies to track hate crimes and incidents and prosecute them legally.
The Project partnered with Connecticut's Hate Crime Advisory Council to gather statistics, speak to direct victims, and draft legal and political solutions to hate crimes and incidents. Members can publish their research in state newspapers and testify before the Connecticut General Assembly. The results of our research will be shared with the Connecticut Hate Crime Advisory Council directly sponsored by Governor of Connecticut Ned Lamont.
