vaccine misinformation mitigation
about us
The Vaccine Misinformation Mitigation Center aims to equip public health officials with the tools they need to effectively combat vaccine misinformation through informed public policy decisions. Vaccine rates are at a 30-year low across the country, primarily due to misinformation propagated by social media. However, there are straightforward and effective solutions to this problem.
The center will conduct cutting-edge experimental research to explore the underlying psychological mechanisms of vaccine hesitancy, perform meta-analyses of various public health decisions across municipalities, and engage in qualitative research with healthcare providers on how they address hesitancy on a personal level.
The center is partnering with Harvard’s Health Disparities Think Tank (HDTT) to connect with providers and health officials, gaining their perspectives on combating misinformation. By the end of the year, the center aims to present its research at public health conferences, publish experimental findings, and produce an accessible manual for public health officials who seek to combat misinformation more effectively.
